Ahmadu Bello University which is located in Zaria is one of the top 50 best universities in Nigeria. It is also one of the oldest in the country as it was established in 1962, just two years after the country gained independence. The university has been given two different names in its history: University of Northern Nigeria and Ahmadu Bello University.

University of Port Harcourt is just another high quality and popular university across the country. University of Port Harcourt was initially known as The University College, back in 1975. In 1977, University of Port Harcourt became officially known as a university.
