JAMB Cut off Mark for Nursing 2018/2019
Just as we know that virtually all the results of the just concluded JAMB examination have been released, many inquisitive minds will want to know the cut off mark set by JAMB cut off mark for Nursing science in Nigerian Universities.
Nursing science is a clinical course that not all Nigerian Universities are offering the course because of the requirement to be offering the course. The course is a unique one because it serves as a focus for the convergence of technologies. Also it uniqueness defines its roles in many disciplines. In fact, to be candid, the scope of the scope is infinitely wide. The role of Nurses in the society can also not be overemphasized as they say that a tree cannot make a forest. If the Nurses are absent in the hospital, their role in taking care of the patients before treatment and after treatment will definitely be lost. They are irreplaceable. The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is the national body that regulates the activities of the course in Nigeria.

Nigerian universities like Ahmadu Bello University that offers Nursing Science as a course usually extends the cut off set by JAMB from 180 to around 200-250. Thus, if you are applying to such universities, you must have had JAMB score within this range in order for you to be able to be offered the course. As we know that like other courses like Law, Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science is also a very competitive course and as such you have to stand on a very strong ground in order for you to have a chance of getting admission into the university.
Please note that even with a high Jamb score, you are not guaranteed a hundred percent chance of getting admission into the university. Most of the Nigerian Universities are of the habit of assessing their aspirants by the conduction of Post jamb examination, which will now serve as the basis for the admission criteria.
However, some universities might decide to use both the Jamb score and Post Jamb score in the determination of the chance of an aspirant in getting admitted into the university. Mostly, the extended Jamb cut off mark set out by these universities for Nursing Science is usually in conformity with that of Pharmacy in most of the Nigerian Universities. Well do not be surprised as the curriculum designed for both course is virtually the same and since the main aim is to produce professionals that will cater for and take care of the patients.
However, depending on the type of University that you are applying to, hence the admission procedure. For universities that base their admission selection on the average score between the Jamb Score and Post Jamb score, you can still scape through by having a very low Jamb score so far you are going to do very well in the Post Jamb score so that on the average, you will get a little higher mark. While for those universities that base their admission selection on the Post jamb score in percentage, it is of paramount importance for you to have a very high Jamb Score in order to get admission into your chosen course of study, in this case, Nursing Science. The high Jamb score we are talking about is around 200 to 250 for Nursing Science. However, on a general note, the main thing is for you to have a high score in both examinations in order for you to be guaranteed of admission into the University.
For Universities that work based on Post Jamb, it is required that if you are applying for Nursing Science, you must have at least a minimum Post Jamb score of 70 percent. This mean that to have a higher chance of getting admission, you even have to get a Post Jamb score above 70% in addition to the 200-250 Jamb score you must have had in the JAMB examination. Thus, if you know that your Jamb score is low and you are applying to a university that works based on high Jamb and Post JAMB Score, I will strongly advise you to check out for change of course or probably change of institution that you met her requirement in order to increase your chance of getting admission into the university this year. And do not forget that the low jamb score I am referring to is equal to or above 180. With a Jamb Score less than this will likely not fetch you an admission this year. So, watch out.
And if your Jamb score is that high, I will also advise you not to relent as you also have to get a high score in Post Jamb just like you did in the recently concluded Jamb Examination. This is to increase your chance of getting admission this year as you know that the number of aspirants you are competing with is on the high side. Thus, I know you will not want to play with even a single mark.
In conclusion, JAMB normally set the cut off mark for all universities as 180. However, Universities have the capacity to increase the cut off mark to any extent so far it does not fall below the JAMB cut off mark. Also, the universities have the ability to set cut off mark for the various courses offered in the University.
For Nursing Science, JAMB cut off mark for Nursing in most of Nigerian Universities usually fall within the range of 200 to 250
Note that apart from that, you also need a high Post Jamb Score in order to increase your chance of getting admission into the University. Of course, apart from meeting the Jamb and Post Jamb score, you must have had a complete O’Level result in order to have a letter of admission this year. And do not forget that what you got to do is to have a very high score whether in Jamb or Post Jamb.
That’s all about JAMB Cut off Mark for Nursing 2018/2019. Wish you the very best of Luck in the Admission process.
