Conclusion

The new University was started off from the old campus of Abeokuta Grammar School, Isale-Igbein near the center of the city of Abeokuta before it moved to its permanent site along Alabata Road in Abeokuta in the year 1997. The University started off with five colleges at the initial stage in the year 1988 and they are;

  • College of Agricultural Management, Rural Development and Communication Studies (COLAMRUCS), whose name was later changed to COLAMRUD (College Of Agriculture Management and Rural Development)
  • College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM)
  • College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM)
  • College of Natural Sciences (COLNAS)
  • College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT)

March 2002 saw the University add two more colleges to the existing ones. The two colleges added are; College of Engineering (COLENG) and the College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET). The College of Agricultural Management, Rural Development, and Communication Studies was then split into two.

  • College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC)
  • College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD)

The newest college in the University as of now is the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS)

FUNAAB is currently one of only three universities of agriculture operating in Nigeria currently. The other two are located in Makurdi, Benue State, and Umudike in Abia State.

The university kicked off operations at its mini-campus located in Isale-Igbein in the center of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. In the month of December year 1997, the University then moved to its permanent site which is a 10,000-hectare campus located close to the Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority on the Abeokuta-Ibadan road in the North-Eastern end of the city which is about 15 km from the Abeokuta City center.

The University currently runs so many programs such as IJMB, JUPEB, Pre-science, Diploma, Pre-degree, Supplementary Admission, Part-time, continuous education programs, post-graduate, master’s degree program, and many others.

Without a doubt, going through the admission process into higher institutions in Nigeria can be quite stressful. First, a candidate must pass the O’level exam, then write UTME. The UTME score is the basis for determining who goes to which school.

Each University, Polytechnic and College of Education in the country sets its own cut off mark for each course. For FUNAAB, the general cut off mark for the session is 180. Candidates who achieved this score are allowed to proceed to the next stage of the admission process in most cases but for some select courses, a candidate is required to achieve a score of 200 to be able to move to the next stage. This article has supplied all the information you need concerning this.
