FUPRE Cut Off Mark For Petroleum Engineering & Other Courses

The cut off mark for the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun was recently released for the admission exercise. Aspirants who during their course of JAMB registration registered Federal University of Petroleum Resources as their first desired institution in the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), and also had an aggregate score of 190 and above are eligible to write the institution post-UTME exercise.

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) is located in Delta State. It was established by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of 14 March 2007 as part of the Federal government’s initiative to build a specialized university in the Niger Delta that will be able to produce the personnel and expertise to cater for the oil and gas sector.

As is the case with admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria, there are certain criteria to be met by applicants before getting admission to study any course of your choice in FUPRE. One of these criteria does include meeting the required cut of mark for the course you wish to study.  Once you have met the cut off mark, it is easy to get admission.

To get admission into FUPRE to study one of its undergraduate programs, interested applicants must score 190 and above in the UTME examination, and possess the minimum 5 credits at O’ level in not more than two sittings.

COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

• FUPRE CUT OFF MARK FOR PETROLEUM ENGINEERING

To apply into this department, you need to score at least 220 in your UTME and have 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Physics and any other science subject.

• CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

For applicants interested in studying Chemical Engineering, you need to have a score of at least 220 in your UTME and have 5 credit passes in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other science subject.

• MARINE ENGINEERING

To study Marine Engineering in Federal University of Petroleum Resources Efurrun, you need to score at least 220 in your UTME and have 5 credit passes in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other science subject.

• ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

You need to score at least 220 in your UTME and have 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and any other science subject.

• MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

To study Mechanical Engineering at FUPRE, you need to score 220 in your UTME and have 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and any other science subject.

COLLEGE OF SCIENCES

• COMPUTER SCIENCE

To study Computer Science at FUPRE, you need to score 190 in your UTME while your O level requirements include 5 credit passes including Mathematics, Physics, English Language in addition to any two other science subjects from Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science.

• GEOPHYSICS

You need to score at least 190 in your UTME and have 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

• CHEMISTRY

You need to have at least 190 in your UTME and have 5 credit passes including Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

• MATHEMATICS

To study Mathematics at FUPRE, you need to score at least 190 and have a minimum 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English, Physics plus any other two subjects from Further Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology or Agricultural Science.

• ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

Applicants looking to study Environmental Science at FUPRE need to have scored at least 190 at the recent UTME and have a minimum of 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Geography.  At the least, a Pass in Physics is compulsory.

• INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY

UTME score of 190 is the least score required for applicants looking to study Industrial Chemistry along with 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

• GEOLOGY

You need a score of at least 190 in your UTME, along with 5 credit passes including Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

• PHYSICS

The minimum requirement to study Physics at FUPRE includes a UTME score of at least 190 along with 5 credit passes in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and any other science subject from Further Mathematics, Agriculture Science or Biology. At least a pass in Biology is compulsory.

FUPRE SCREENING EXERCISE

Admission screening holds in two phases. Students who applied to study in the school are to proceed with the exercise at the school venue once it has been announced. Documents that will be asked of you include your SSCE result and your JAMB registrations print out.

The other phase of screening is after the admission list has been released. Applicants who passed will be invited for another screening exercise and will be required to provide the following documents:

• Original copies of educational qualifications, statement of results and certificates (awaiting results will not be accepted).
• Birth certificates and declaration of age.
• Certificate of local government of origin.
• An attestation letter which shows good conduct and good behavior from the community leader, village head, or civil servants who are not below level 10 or its equivalent in the private sector he/she is working for.
• Also come along with notification of admission status slip.

Note: FUPRE school fees can be paid in a maximum of three installments.

CONCLUSION

Due to the high number of applicants wishing to study in the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun, the admission process of the school is competitive and admission will be given to candidates with higher JAMB scores. That is to say, the higher your JAMB scores, the higher your chances of being admitted. Candidates with higher scores are first to be considered for admission. Even the applicants with scores of 190 might not be admitted.
